[What does this world amount to?]
I turn to you, and ask in earnest,
What does this world amount to, if thou not burnest?
Passions raging, ceaseless striving,
Emotions swelling, forever driving,
The Self is an infinite source, this world will yield;
Its powers, its secrets, I have yet to wield;
Ideas seething, mind reeling,
Ecstatic delight, raw feeling;
Behold the contradiction that I am,
God is but the aspiration of Man!
I become pensive, and look within,
There is something dark here, how do I begin
To describe the emotions that set in
When I contemplate the meaning between two souls akin?
What does my world amount to, if I find not this?
I pause, no answer, I'm wont to dismiss
These horrifying thoughts, regain my state of bliss,
But I feel it to the core, something's amiss...
